I left Tsuruga, which really doesn't have much going on in terms of tourist stuff. I found out later it has two nuclear energy facilities. I planned to go to Fukui today. The road out of Tsuruga climbed up a hill for a bit and after several tunnels, I finally got my first glimpse of the Sea of Japan. It felt good to know I've made it this far, over 1000 miles at this point...but I also know that I am not finished yet. The route goes along the coast for a bit and then it heads into the mountains. Once again, the side of the highway was littered with trash. It was really sad to see all this. I hate to blame a group of people, but truckers seem to be the culprits here as most of the trash was bottles of piss and cans of coffee.

For lunch I stopped at a small mom and pop udon shop. I had curry udon, and although a bit pricey for my budget, I was rewarded with some mandarins from the shop owner after I told them about my trip. They wished me luck and I headed out. After lunch, the road was flat all the way through so I made good time. I decided to pass Fukui, which is a big city, and head towards Komatsu station to look for hotels there. I arrived into Komatsu just as sunlight was disappearing. I found a business hotel nearby and decided to stay there. After warming up in the shower, I walked around town to look for a place to eat. I walked further than I wanted to and eventually settled for ramen. It was delicious, but you already know that by looking at the picture.

Afterwards, I went to a super market and bought some cheap food for tomorrow's ride. I'm only looking at the calorie count these days, so anything with tons of calories for cheap. I also bought some ice cream for dessert. I went back to the hotel and ate my ice cream before falling asleep
